ALL ABOUT “T”
Hey there it’s Tova, but you can call me ‘T’. I became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Animal Behavior College in 2012. I STARTED DOING PRIVATE IN-HOME TRAINING AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT. BEFORE, HOWEVER, AS A YOUNG CHILD I KNEW MY PLACE WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE WITH ANIMALS. I WANTED TO BE A VETERINARIAN WHEN I GREW UP. I WOULD GO TO ALL MY FAMILY’S PETS VET APPOINTMENTS AND ASK THE DOCTOR ALL KINDS OF QUESTIONS. I ALWAYS ASKED HOW OLD I NEEDED TO BE BEFORE I COULD WORK IN HIS PRACTICE. I HAD A FEW MORE YEARS TO GO SO IN THE MEANTIME I BEGAN VOLUNTEERING AT MY TOWN'S LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD, RESCUING STRAY CATS WITH A WOMAN WHO WAS HEAD OF THE BOARD COMMITTEE. THROUGH RESCUE WORK I LEARNED DIFFERENT SKILLS AND PRECAUTIONS I MUST TAKE WORKING WITH DOGS OF UNPREDICTABLE BEHAVIOR. WALKING DOGS AND CLEANING CAGES BECAME NORMAL FOR ME AND I LOVED BEING SURROUNDED BY ALL THE ANIMALS. AT 13 YEARS OLD I GOT THE GREEN LIGHT TO START WORK AT MY VETERINARY CLINIC IN MY HOME TOWN AS A KENNEL attendant. I LOVED THE WORK AND EVERYTHING I LEARNED WAS SO EXCITING. AS I GOT OLDER I WORKED MY WAY UP TO VETERINARY ASSISTANT AND RECEPTIONIST. I LATER TOOK INTEREST IN A VETERINARIAN WHO GAVE MEDICAL TREATMENT AND URGENT CARE FOR RESCUE DOGS, SHELTER DOGS AND PUPPY MILL DOGS THROUGH HER VERY OWN SMALL TOWN VETERINARY PRACTICE. I STARTED EXPANDING MY INTERESTS AND HELPED RESCUE AND FOSTER DOGS FROM HORRIBLE SITUATIONS. WATCHING THESE SURVIVOR DOGS STRUGGLE IN THEIR NEW LIFE PUSHED ME EVEN FARTHER INTO TRAINING. I BEGAN WORKING ONE ON ONE WITH THEM TO HELP THEM GAIN CONFIDENCE IN THEMSELVES AND DOING WHAT I COULD TO PREPARE THEM FOR A NEW HOME. IT WASN’T LONG BEFORE I DECIDED I WANTED TO PURSUE A DOG TRAINING CAREER AND I ENROLLED IN A TRAINING PROGRAM. SINCE BECOMING CERTIFIED I HAVE TRAINED DOGS FOR BASIC OBEDIENCE, BEHAVIOR CHALLENGES, AGGRESSION, BREED CHALLENGES, SENIOR DOG CHALLENGES, PUPPY MILL SURVIVORS, AND ANY COMMITTED OWNER NEEDING HELP TRAINING THEIR DOG.
